Opened in 1975, the Milner Recreation Center (formerly known as the Civic Center) was designed to be the cornerstone of the Parks and Recreation services in McMinnville and has served that purpose since its creation.  Not only does the Milner Recreation Center house the Parks and Recreation Services but the history is rich.  From legendary performers such as Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson, to our very own hometown heroes, the stage has seen some of the very best that Tennessee has to offer.  Today, the Milner Recreation Center still houses the offices of the McMinnville Parks and Recreation services and has become a common place for various organizations of McMinnville to hold their meetings, banquets, etc... The facility has multiple rooms to rent for organizational meetings, conferences, birthday parties, and other group functions. The main gymnasium holds up to 3500 people for theater and concert style events. It also houses a large basketball court used for basketball play and other sports leagues. An indoor tennis court and a wellness center are also available for admission. The Milner Recreation Center also offers various fitness classes and houses the administrative staff overseeing our ever popular Gilley Pool.

Outside, the Civic Center Complex, known to some as "Dottie West Park", boasts four outdoor tennis courts, an outdoor volleyball court, the Jungle Jym playground, seven newly renovated ballfields, the Gilley pool and a walking trail complete with outdoor workout equipment (pictured below).
