The McMinnville Police Department is committed to excellence by providing professional law enforcement services in keeping with modern law enforcement standards while being sensitive to the needs of our citizens. We operate under a community policing and problem solving philosophy. Our citizens are a key element when it comes to controlling crime. The members of this department will work closely with the community to identify problems and then work together to solve them. On June 3, 2010, the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police awarded state accreditation to the McMinnville Police Department. The Accreditation Program is designed to encourage cooperation, recognize professional standing, encourage professional services and ensure public safety throughout the State of Tennessee. This program is a valuable and cost effective way to enhance overall agency effectiveness and professionalism. We are excited about our accomplishments and we look forward to offering new programs, establish new relationships and partnering with our citizens.

Accreditation (TLEA)

The McMinnville Police Department was accredited by the TLEA in 2010.  TLEA is a program offered by the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police.  McMinnville Police Department was the 1st law enforcement agency in the state to receive the accreditation certificate. TLEA requires adherence to over 160 professional law enforcement standards.

The TLEA standards are designed to:

~Increase the agency's ability to prevent crime.

~Increase the agency's effectiveness in the delivery of law enforcement services.

~Increase cooperation and efficacy among other law enforcement and criminal justice agencies.

~Increase citizen and employee confidence in the goals, objectives, policies, and practices of the agency.
