City Awarded $1 Million For Stormwater Projects

The City of McMinnville has been awarded 2 grants totaling over $1 million for Stormwater Management! All projects will be fully funded by grants! Both projects are expected to alleviate stormwater issues in the area through green infrastructure. Listed below are the details and a brief video that can help explain the benefits of wetlands in stormwater management.

Project 1: Potter Ln.
The Potter Ln. project is a 2-acre site to create a stormwater management park. This park will consist of a detention pond, a wetland garden, multiple rain gardens, a permeable paver parking lot, and a nature walking path. In addition to this, we will be moving the community garden to this site and adding a community orchard (apples and pears). Additionally, there will be educational placards throughout the site explaining the functionality of each stormwater management practice.

Project 2: Behind Bobby Ray School
This project is ~5 acres and will create an additional stormwater management park. This park will consist of a large wetland restoration for water detention, a permeable paver parking lot, and a large boardwalk that will give citizens the opportunity to go into the wetland and learn more about the ecosystem and functionality through educational placards. Additionally, there will be seating and shaded areas for our citizens.
