Administration 

  • This Week
    • Committee and Board of Mayor and Aldermen meetings were held on Tuesday, 1/9/24.
    • I (Nolan Ming) launched a new social media series that summarizes the results of our committee and Board of Mayor & Aldermen meetings.
    • Worked on new website transition.
  • Next Week
    • City offices will be closed on Monday 1/15 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Monday's trash route will be run on Tuesday.
    • Will keep working on the website upgrade.

Public Works 

  • This Week
    • Worked on the remodel of the 1st floor of City Hall.
    • Clean up after the storm getting trees out of the streets.
    • Had seven traffic lights that had to be replaced after the storm.
    • I want to thank everyone for being patient while the traffic lights were flashing at different intersections around town, always use a flashing traffic light as a stop sign.
    • We had a lot of residents' trash cans that had blown around in the storm, so if you have an extra trash can at your house please call Public Works and let us know so we can get them back to their owner. 473-1219
  • Next Week
    • We will continue working at City Hall on the remodel.
    • Weather permitting we will be patching some water cuts with concrete.
    • We have some ditches that need to be cleaned out.

Police 

  • This Week
    • We truly appreciate everyone’s patience as the weather was detrimental in the traffic light system this week. Also, a big shout out to Public Works for the effort in getting the lights repaired and operational.
    • We celebrated Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Tuesday. We are thankful to those in the community who supplied us with cards, snacks, and meals. The kind acts are appreciated.
  • Next Week
    • Personnel will attend various trainings.
    • Personnel will continue to work on compiling statistics for the 2023 year.

Fire 

  • This Week
    • We would like to welcome three new firefighters who will be working with us. Welcome aboard and we are glad to have them!
      • Firefighter/EMT Joel McGlothen has started full-time on “A” shift this week
      • Firefighter/AEMT Chris Keply and Firefighter Kenneth Spry will be working part-time
    • All three shifts conducted training by the Tennessee Fire and Codes Enforcement Academy for the TN Commission on Firefighting on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
    • McMinnville Fire Department just completed our tenth year of our partnership with the TN State Fire Marshal’s Office “Get Alarmed” smoke alarm program. Since 2013, MFD has installed 2078 smoke alarms in the homes of McMinnville residents free of charge. In 2023, we had a confirmed save due to one of the smoke alarms that we installed that alerted the homeowner of a fire throughout the night. Call Fire Station 1 at 473-3435 if you need smoke alarms installed in your house. Smoke alarms save lives.
Parks & Recreation 

  • This Week
    • McMinnville Youth Basketball all day this Saturday, Jan. 13th.
    • McMinnville Winter Tennis league all day this Saturday, Jan. 13th.
    • McMinnville On Ice- Thursday, Jan. 11th- 5-8 pm, Friday, Jan. 12th- 5-9 pm, and Saturday, Jan. 13th- 2-8 pm.  Final weekend.
    • McMinnville Youth Soccer spring league sign-ups begin Thursday, Jan. 11th at the Milner Center.  In-person sign-ups only.
    • Thanks to Parks and Rec maintenance for cleanup and minor repairs to field lights and fencing due to wind damage.

Water & Wastewater 

  • This Week
    • Repaired a water leak at Cumberland Plaza
    • Repaired a water leak and sewer service on King Street.
    • Repaired a water leak on Durham Street.
    • Multiple service calls and locates.
    • Washed sewer main and unclogged a service on Garfield.
    • Installed 6 new meters on Caldwell Street.
    • Located leak on Hardaway for the housing authority.
    • Washed sewer main and TV on Ross Ave.
    • Prepared covering materials for the start of the roofing project on 202 Bell.
    • Materials arrived for the roofing project at the 202 Bell St. maintenance shop.
    • Cut-offs for non-pay 1/10/2024.
    • Repaired water leak on Moffit Street.
    • Repaired leak on Shadowlawn Dr.
    • Continue work on the Sewer System map for TV-ing of the system.
    • Washed basin next to the street at the Water Plant.
    • Met with Master Meter reps.
    • Total rainfall for December was 2.43 inches.
    • Total rainfall for 2023 was 47.91 inches.
    • Checked all Pump Stations.
