Administration 

  • This Week
    • Committee and Board of Mayor & Aldermen meetings were held on Tuesday. 
    • IT Director Scotty Lawson and I (Nolan Ming)  continued working on the website upgrade. 
    • Staff meeting held on Thursday 2/15.
    • I will meet with Finance Director Samantha Moore tomorrow, Friday 2/16, to discuss updating financial policies. 
  • Next Week
    • City offices will be closed on Monday, 2/19, in observance of President's Day.
    • I will be meeting with IDB Director Wendy Sneed to discuss childcare and its impact on economic and community development. 
    • I will be meeting with Public Works Director Frank Southard and engineering consultant Ryan Maloney to discuss the status of intersection upgrades at N. Chancery & the bypass and Locust St. and N. Chancery St. 
    • Will continue working on the website upgrade.

Public Works 

  • This Week
    • We’ve continued working on the first floor of City Hall. 
    • We’ve patched several utility cuts around town.

    • We are still working at City Hall.

Police 

  • This Week
    • We really enjoyed playing basketball with McMinnville Special Games. They have a great team and we were honored to play with them. 
    • Applications are now being accepted for the Teen Citizen Police Academy. Please call 931-473-3808 with any questions. 
  • Next Week
    • Continued work with the Slow Down TN campaign and reminder yard sign efforts. This campaign is designed to remind everyone about the importance of maintaining a safe speed when traveling our local roadways. 
    • Officers will attend various trainings locally and across the state. 

Fire 

  • This Week
    • Delivered Meals on Wheels.
    • Received our new Halmatro Extraction Combi-Tool training.
    • Attended performance management training on Thursday and Friday.
    • Ber Bess is at TFACA this week for his driver/aerial training.

    • Deliver Meals on Wheels.
    • Will begin looking for a new grant to apply for.

    • Maintenance installed sewage pump at the Gilley Pool

    • Continuing to work on Grant Opportunities.

Community Development 

  • This Week
    • Presented a new fee schedule for building permits to the building and grounds committee which was recommended to the full board of Mayor and Aldermen.
    • The first reading to rezone of property from R1 to R6 on Red Road was approved.
    • The first reading to amend the zoning code was approved for attached single-family dwellings in various districts.
    • Made minor changes to the new permitting software.
    • Met with potential developers for sites throughout the city.

    • Prepare for the Historic Zoning, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Planning Commission Meetings
    • Prepare for the upcoming BOMA meeting.
    • Continue to make minor changes to the new permitting software
Water & Wastewater 

  • This Week
    • Several service calls and locates.
    • Checked pump stations.
    • Replaced Chlorine analyzer @ Bybee Pump Station.
    • Cut limbs from the greenway for wash truck clearance.
    • Checked inverted siphon on both sides of the river.
    • Installed windows at the maintenance shop.
    • Stockpiled rock from the quarry.
    • Changed angle valve on Lind Street.
    • Tested 2 meters for customers.
    • Cleaned inverted siphon @ Pepper Branch Park.
    • Cleaned chemical tank at the water plant.
    • Updated pretreatment letter to TDEC.
    • Contractors about 65% complete on the Bell Street Roof replacement project.

    • TAUD (Tennessee Association of Utility Districts) Region 4 meeting at The Park Theater - Best tasting water contest to be held at The Park Theater on Wednesday, 2/21.
    • We will be making a new ¾ water tap on Kingwood Drive.
    • Leak repair behind First National Bank.
    • We will be working with contractors at Caney Fork Electric on a new 4” water tap.
