Administration 

  • This Week
    • Congratulations to the McMinnville Water Department, who won the 2024 Region 4 TN Association of Utility Districts Best Tasting Water Contest for the 2nd year consecutive year!
    • City offices were closed on Monday in observance of President's Day.
    • IT Director Scotty Lawson and I (Nolan Ming) continued working on the website upgrade.
    • Met with potential developers, discussed, and reviewed potential sites.

    • Committee and Board of Mayor & Aldermen meetings will be held on Tuesday. 
    • Will continue working on the website upgrade.

Public Works 

  • This Week
    • We’ve continued working on the first floor of City Hall and have now moved up to the second floor. 
    • We’ve patched several utility cuts around town. 
    • Installed a few driveway culverts for customers.

    • We are still working at City Hall. 
    • We’ll continue patching utility cuts. 

Police 

  • This Week
    • Applications are now being accepted for the Teen Citizen Police Academy. Please call 931-473-3808 with any questions. 
  • Next Week
    • Continued work with the Slow Down TN campaign and reminder yard sign efforts. This campaign is designed to remind everyone about the importance of maintaining a safe speed when traveling our local roadways. 
    • Officers will attend various trainings locally and across the state. 

Fire 

  • This Week
    • Firefighter/AEMT Dylan Blair was promoted to Engineer on A shift. Congratulations Dylan!
    • Firefighter/AEMT Robert Bess and Firefighter/AEMT Colby Pearsall attended the TN Fire and Codes Enforcement Academy for commission testing on Rope Rescue.
    • Robert Bess earned his Aerial Driver/Operator commission certification. Congratulations Robert!
    • Multiple fire inspections were conducted throughout the city.

    • Extrication training will be conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
    • Will begin looking for a new grant to apply for.
Parks & Recreation

    • Winter Tennis League Saturday, 2/24.
    • Installing shade cloth dugout covers.
    • Prepping Pistole Park fields for Spring soccer practices.
    • Began preparing for the upcoming budget with staff.

Community Development 

  • This Week
    • Prepared for upcoming Historic Zoning, Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and BOMA meetings.
    • Met with potential developers, discussed, and reviewed potential sites.
    • Made minor changes to the new permitting software.

    • The second and final reading for a rezone of property on Red Road from R1 - Low Density to R6 - Smart Growth
    • Second and final reading for an amendment to the zoning code regarding attached single-family dwellings
    • Presentation and first reading for new building permit fees.
Water & Wastewater 

  • This Week
    • We had several service calls and locates.
    • We read meters on 2/20/2024.
    • Removed sand from the ice rink area.
    • Worked with roofers on the 202 Bell Street roof replacement.
    • Cutoffs for non-pay on 2/21/2024 (45).
    • Attended TN Association of Utility Districts Region 4 Meeting Best Tasting Water Contest. @ The Park Theater.
    • Replaced a 2-inch galvanized water service on East Main.
    • Installed a ¾ water service on Kingwood Drive.
    • Checked all pump stations.
    • Cut tree roots from sewer service mains at trouble spots.
    • Worked on the new compliance data portal for reporting sample results through TDEC.
  • Welcome - Mr. Alden Lawrence to the McMinnville Water Department, he will be working in the meter reading department.
  • Next Week
    • We will be installing service line replacements as needed.
    • We will be installing an E-1 pump station on Bradford Rd.
    • We will be cleaning the clarifiers at the Wastewater Plant.
    • Fleming Training Center from Murfreesboro will be touring our Wastewater Plant on Wednesday.
