Administration 

  • This Week
    • Committee and Board of Mayor & Aldermen meetings were held on Tuesday. 
    • A staff meeting was held on Wednesday.
    • I (Nolan Ming) participated as an interviewer for MTAS in the Signal Mountain interview panel for candidates for their next City Manager.
    • I read books to a class at Bobby Ray for Read Across America Week.

Public Works 

  • This Week
    • Continued working on the first and second floors of City Hall  
    • Patched water cuts around town. 
    • Worked on the planters in the back parking lot on East Colville St. 
    • Completed a clean-up at the transfer station for the upcoming state inspection. 
  • Next Week
    • We’ll be demoing the house at 206 Potter Lane getting ready for a stormwater project. 
    • We’ll be sweeping the bike lanes. 
    • We’ll be continuing to work on the planters in the back parking lots. 

Police 

  • This Week
    • Congratulations to Detective Sergeant Katelyn Cannon on her recent promotion. She has also spent the past week attending additional training in CVSA. 
    • Congratulations to Detective Sergeant Cory Knowles on his recent promotion. 
    • There are still a few open positions for our Teen Citizens Police Academy. Please come by the Police Department located on the 3rd Floor of City Hall for an application. 
  • Next Week
    • Continued work with the Slow Down TN campaign and reminder yard sign efforts. This campaign is designed to remind everyone about the importance of maintaining a safe speed when traveling our local roadways. 
    • Department personnel continue to attend various trainings in a variety of areas. 

Fire 

  • This Week
    • Delivered Meals on Wheels
    • Extrication training will be conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
    • All shifts completed their performance management evaluations.
    • Firefighter/AEMT Robert Bess and Firefighter/AEMT Colby Pearsall passed their commission rope test on Rope Rescue.
  • Next Week
    • Work on applying for the AFG Grant.
    • Work on the upcoming budget.
    • All shifts will complete a walk-through/pre-plan at Generation Hot Tubs.
    • We will help with a car seat checkpoint event on March 9th at the Milner Center. 
Parks & Recreation 

  • This Week
    • McMinnville Youth Basketball League games going on this week.  The tournament begins Sat. 3/2.
    • Winter Tennis League matches Sat. 3/2.
    • Working on dog park expansion.
    • Preparing budget with staff this week.
    • Finalizing spring soccer registration numbers to prepare for the spring season.  447 sign-ups.

Community Development 

  • This Week
    • Held the Historic Zoning Board meeting: Three certificates of appropriateness were approved.
    • Board of Zoning Appeals: Two special exceptions and one variance were approved. 
    • The second and final reading on the rezoning of property on Red Rd. from R-1 Low Density to R-6 - Smart Growth.
    • The second and final reading on the zoning amendment regarding attached single-family dwellings. 
  • Next Week
    • Prepare for the March 12th BoMA meeting.
    • Minor tweaks to the permitting software.
Water & Wastewater 

  • This Week
    • Several service calls and locates.
    • Cleaned up the maintenance shop.
    • Prepped for loading dock and back wall repair.
    • Inspected patchwork on Lagoon Drive manholes.
    • Framed lean-to at the back of the shop.
    • Installed ¾ water tap on Kingwood Dr.
    • Checked all pump stations.
    • Worked on the dock area at the shop.
    • Assisted on leak location for the customer.
    • Cleaned clarifiers at the Wastewater Plant.
    • Fleming Training Staff toured our Wastewater plant.
    • Ran double shifts at the sludge press.
    • Continued to train on the new reporting for Labs on the EPA website.
  • Next Week
    • We will set a new E1 Station on Bradford Rd.
    • If materials arrive, we will be making a 4-inch tap and setting a 4-inch meter base with box.
